Responding to the urgent need for safe, clean water for the 98 girls and personnel at the Orphanage, the Rotary Clubs of Calgary Stampede Park, Calgary Downtown and Gayaza in Uganda joined forces to raise money for the installation of a borehole well. The Scott Daniel Seaman Memorial Fund at Calgary Foundation also made a generous contribution to the project. This included the infrastructure to channel the water to the orphanage. The project also included a generator for the orphanage, complete with a secure cage. This ensures that the new water pump is always functional. In fact, the electricity in the neighbourhood isn't sufficient to run the water pump. With the provision of safe drinking water, there were no cases of water born diseases such as diarrhea and dysentery in 2024.
Our gratitude to Ted Stack, a member of the Calgary Stampede Park Rotary Club who spearheaded this life changing addition to the orphanage.
