Send A Girl to School
Empowering orphan girls through education and skills training

One of the major funding requirements for the orphanage is the payment of annual school fees. The girls begin school at Springfield Junior School. The school is built adjacent to the orphanage, so access is easy. The girls get a good start with strong literacy and numeracy skills, and become integrated with children from the surrounding community. The school generously subsidizes the fees for our orphans. There are three terms during each school year, costing $185 CAD per student. Each girl should pay $555 CAD per year. There are 65 girls enrolled at Springfield Junior School in 2025. Any funding shortfalls for school fees can impact Springfield's ability to pay teachers and support staff.
The girls also need to pay fees beyond grade six to attend two secondary schools - St. Edward High School Lubaga and Mount of Olives College Kakiri. Fees at these schools include room and board during the school year. The girls return to the orphanage during school holidays. Starting in grade 7, the girls can take advantage of skills training and access to computers at these wonderful schools. Each of the three terms at St. Edward's and Mount of Olives costs $200. Each girl needs to pay $600 CAD per year. The secondary schools cannot accept the girls unless their fees are fully paid. There are 33 girls enrolled at St. Edward's and Mount of Olives in 2025.
If the girls finish secondary school, they are three times less likely to be sold into child labour in Uganda or to be trafficked to a foreign country. Your fundraising efforts will ensure the girls’ future.
Safeguarding Our Future
Ensuring the safety of orphan girls for a brighter future

In Uganda, orphan girls are especially vulnerable to exploitation, child labour, and human trafficking. At present, we have security guards onsite 24/7. The Ugandan government has mandated the construction of a protective barrier around all orphanage facility buildings. The need is urgent. The orphanage risks being closed if the barrier is not built by 2027.
Our Lady of Kibeho Orphanage is located on a slope. Its landscape, soil type and size, influence the reinforcement requirements, design approach, and the quantity of materials needed to construct the barrier. Construction plans have been drawn up and approved. The perimeter barrier is forecast to cost a total of $93 000 CAD.
Constructing a well-designed barrier around the orphanage facilities will enhance security for both the girls and orphanage staff. The new perimeter barrier will also protect the new freshwater borehole well and generator that was installed in 2023.

Walk Beside Her
Supplying Shoes, Socks, Clothing, and Sanitary Supplies

Our mission to provide orphaned girls with basic needs, formal education and culturally appropriate life skills is ongoing.
We have created a safe, loving home for the girls managed by a family of dedicated volunteers and staff. Just as in any home, Our Lady of Kibeho Orphanage has ongoing costs. Our Foundation was able to provide badly needed new shoes and socks this year. In order to give the girls the skills to become independent adults, the following items are needed: sewing machines, a table for cutting cloth, computers and materials for making baskets, candles and bags.
Support Our Farm
Growing Food While Growing Skills for Life

Our Lady of Kibeho Orphanage is blessed to have their own source of fresh fruit, vegetables, milk and eggs. Our farm manager is an important employee of the orphanage. He has expertise in crop and animal husbandry and passes on his knowledge and skills to the girls. Our manager prides himself in preparing the girls for their future. Uganda depends on agriculture and women are usually the bread winners in African culture.
The girls help with the harvest each year. However, we need to build better bathroom facilities for the girls in the farm area. The farm manager also needs improvements to his residence. If you lean on the hut where he currently lives, it would topple over! Your donation can support the farm at Our Lady of Kibeho, an important asset for the sustainability of the orphanage.
